As a portfolio lawyer I get to feel like part of my client’s team. I love being able to really understand the businesses I work with – their strategies, goals, and plans for growth – so I can help them navigate the tricky terrain of privacy compliance while offering them practical, bespoke solutions that align closely with their needs
Hello I'm Abigail...
WHY I LOVE WHAT I DO
THE EXPERIENCE I BRING
I work with a number of SMEs on making privacy business-as-usual and I do this by looking to weave privacy into existing business processes as opposed to asking everything to change to suit the regs. My approach is to be risk-based and practical. I began my career in litigation over 15 years ago in a leading international law firm in Montreal. I worked in India for 3 years and later, back in Canada, I joined the Canadian Crown corporation as their privacy, trade and litigation lead. Now I’m deep into all things privacy/GDPR and priv-tech related. I regularly speak, write and teach on privacy and data protection matters. On behalf of My Inhouse Lawyer I also sit on the BSI (UK privacy by design for IoT panel) where we look to be the voice of reason for our SME client community. I am also fluent in French
WHEN I'M NOT WORKING
I love to cook (and eat). I treat recipes as inspiration – rather than strict roadmaps – for my culinary adventures. An avid traveller who loves learning new languages and cultures, I try to combine my love of all three when I’m abroad. My wanderlust (and my career) have taken me to many parts of the world and I’ve lived in India, Mali, Kenya and Cambodia, and now the UK. I’ve also travelled extensively. When I’m not travelling I love to unwind in a yoga class or burn off excess energy in a spinning class
