I am very much a hands-on person and I enjoy working at all levels within a business to help piece together the parts of the puzzle which make it successful. I love to make a difference and seamlessly navigating and steering the clients we work with through the legal challenges. At the end of the day, there is no puzzle that cannot be solved.
Hello I'm Karen...
WHY I LOVE WHAT I DO
THE EXPERIENCE I BRING
I am a strange breed of lawyer in that I started life as a software programmer and worked for IBM for 11 years in a number of roles before retraining as a lawyer. I have worked inhouse in a variety of large and small companies in the finance, technology, telecoms, media and more recently gaming and gambling sectors – Dell, UBS, Arqiva Satellite & Media, Fujitsu, Gamesys and Anzo. I have strong TMT skills and my experience ranges across commercial, technology, telecoms, outsourcing, procurement, media, technology, litigation through to gaming and gambling. I like to think that I am approachable and friendly whilst being pragmatic and advising in plain language – if nothing else, my Scottish accent is memorable!
WHEN I'M NOT WORKING
I love being outdoors: working and constantly improving my garden and developing a small allotment patch; an enthusiastic horse rider with a preference to provide assistance and grooming services to my friends (or anyone who needs help) who compete locally and nationally; and, more recently I have returned to Beaver Scouts (6-8 year olds) as a Beaver Scout Leader – which can only be described as the noisiest and fastest hour of the week made possible only through the co-ordination and support of the fantastic amazing team behind the scenes.
