Lawyers don’t run a company – but if you want to get to the heart of what a company does and how it’s going, you’ll likely find a lawyer in the thick of it. I love the issues and interactions that being an inhouse lawyer provides, which can be rewarding and challenging in equal measure!
Hello I’m Rob…
WHY I LOVE WHAT I DO
THE EXPERIENCE I BRING
My first career was as an aerospace engineer. While I really enjoyed that job, I wanted a career that was very broad and would allow me to work for any company, anywhere.
My legal career has ranged from working in the Commercial and Regulatory group at Hogan Lovells, to Head of Legal and Compliance and CoSec at Mitsubishi Power Europe, who manufacture huge land-based gas turbines. Along the way it included a stint at High Speed 1, the high speed rail link to the Channel Tunnel – an SME by nature but managing a multi-billion pound asset.
My last role at Mitsubishi was as Corporate VP, which provided me a much broader oversight of key business areas of a multinational, including HR, insurance and risk management, QHSE, IT, logistics, procurement and supply chain.
WHEN I'M NOT WORKING
I try to keep up with my two young daughters and chocolate lab. When money and time permit we love to go away, whether that be a weekend on the Kent coast, or as a special treat somewhere skiing. I also volunteer as a governor at a state school in central London.
