I strongly believe that being a General Counsel is so much more than just advising on the black letter of the law and enjoy being an integral part of a successful business in helping it to thrive, adapt and grow. I enjoy the variety and challenges that being an inhouse lawyer brings as well as using my skills to enhance the day-to-day operation and efficiency of a business and ensuring it is protected from all potential legal risks.

WHY I LOVE WHAT I DO
THE EXPERIENCE I BRING
I started my career gaining experience on a broad variety of finance transactions in private practice at Olswang LLP (now CMS). This was especially useful when I moved inhouse to Barclays (Wealth and Investment Management) where my general finance knowledge came in handy in structuring and negotiating credit deals with their high net worth client base and where I led the Corporate Jets & Superyachts legal team. More recently, I have honed my legal skills in a more generalist role as sole counsel of the London branch of Joh. Berenberg, Gossler & Co. KG, a German bank, mainly supporting the Equities and Wealth & Asset Management businesses and everything that comes with running a 350 staff branch!
WHEN I'M NOT WORKING
I think it is important to try and give back to the community, which has led to some really interesting roles outside of my day job, including being a non-executive director on the board of NeuroResponse (a social enterprise developing a unique care pathway for Multiple Sclerosis patients), a trustee on the board of Revolving Doors Agency, a charity which champions long-term solutions for justice reform that tackle the root causes of reoffending and I am a governor and vice-chair of the governing board of Thorley Hill, a local primary school in Bishops Stortford.
