About this section

M&A and financing is one of 9 core areas where we can make a positive difference to your business. In this section you’ll find some insight and tips from our top inhouse lawyers. We talk about this as the journey from start-up, to scale-up to a grown-up business. At each stage you’ll have different financing needs. You might be bringing on early stage investors. You might be bringing on growth capital. It could be pure debt, pure equity or a combination of both such as a convertible loan note. Some of this will depend on whether you choose to grow organically or buy acquiring smaller businesses. You might be dealing with lenders, angel investors or VC firms.

In each case, you’ll want to be sure you strike the right balance between risk and reward, think closely about control /ownership and what happens if things don’t go as planned. Bear in mind too that each time you bring in new investment, it will impact the existing shareholders and there may be a need to get approvals and resolutions beforehand.

We have some brilliant expertise on the team to help with all of this with ideas that may not have crossed your mind. Hope you enjoy the articles but if you’d rather talk than read, give us a call on 0207 939 3959
